About The NE IL 21-40's Get-Outta-The-House Group

******** "Frequently Asked Questions" ********

What kinds of events do you guys have?
We like to mix thing up a bit. Suggestions are always welcome! Events include meet & greets, beer & wine tastings, dinner, theater, comedy clubs, art & music, happy hours, bowling, game nights, Cubs games (sorry, no White Sox - lol), charity work, charity drives, ladies nights, dancing, karaoke & more. As the weather permits, we do outdoor stuff like festivals, biking, hiking, horseback riding, paintball, all kinds of stuff! Refer to the Messages page for discussions on upcoming events & ideas, & Calendar for scheduled events (you can search both past & future events).

How often does the group meet?

We meet anywhere from 4 to as many as 15 times per month.

Is this a dating club?
This is not a hook-up or singles group. We are NOT a dating club. We welcome a variety of couples, singles, races & orientations. However, if singles meet and end up dating, that's great, but please DON'T join if that's *all* you're interested in!

Is there a fee?
As you may or may not know, Meetup.com charges the organizers a monthly fee to run our meetup groups. There is a small $5 annual fee per member (prorated to $3 after October 1st). Members have 30 days from the date of joining to pay the fee via in person or via Paypal ($5.50 to cover Paypal fees). This allows new members to get a feel for this group before they make their final decision. Fees are non-refundable (for any reason, including leaving/removal from the group).

What's with the RSVPs?
It is important that you RSVP because it encourages others to participate & reinforces that we are an active group. Even a "No" RSVP is welcome, so we know you're out there and still interested.

A "Yes" RSVP should be treated like any other commitment. The organizers spend a lot of time (and in many occasions, money) to set up events & they expect you to RESPECT them & the place holding the event - it's really embarrasing to set up an event with 40 people & only have 25 show! As a courtesy to the rest of the group & the person who went through the trouble of organizing the event, please change your RSVP at least 24 hours prior to an event if possible. For many events we need make reservations based on the RSVP list. Because of past issues with this, we enforce the Dreaded Meetup 3-Strikes Rule in this group: 3 no-shows for a limited number/reservation-required event in 1 calendar year & you will be asked to leave the group.

Even if there are no reservations required, it's important that we have the number of people attending so that we know to look out for you! If it's the day of an event & you can't make it, please email the Organizer of the event or call the venue.

NOTE: For a limited-seating event, if you do not update your "Maybe" RSVP to "Yes" or "No" by the cut-off date (if one is given) your RSVP will automatically be changed to a "No".

I have kids - can I bring them too?

Obviously a lot of our events involve getting out & letting loose - which for a lot of us involves adult beverages in an adults-only situation, & we don't want to have to worry about what we say or how we act in front of the little ones. That being said, we do offer events that are kid friendly - check the title or description, or email the person organizing the event to ask. Past kid-friendy events have included festivals, mini-golf, ice cream socials, pizza nights, nature hikes, etc.

I have a side business - may I promote it within the group?
We are a social club, not a business networking group. If at all possible, we'd like to forget about work and have fun! That being said, sometimes there is a crossover wth your work & social life. If you run a side business (or main business, for that matter!) & would like to promote it, please let the organizers know & we'll discuss it on a case-by-case basis.

What if I have an issue with someone in the group?
Please call it to the attention of the organizers so that it may be discussed. We reserve the right to remove any member at any time for any reason. We will not tolerate any type of harrasment, intolerance or disrespect. Anyone who violates this policy will be removed from the group and any membership fees paid will not be refunded.
