It's a perfect base camp sightseeing and major Civil War battlefield visits. Or, spend your camping vacation enjoying the scenic wonders while hiking the Appalachian Trail and tubing on the Potomac River. Come learn about the civil war battlefields, and enjoy all the activities. It's a camping vacation you'll always remember.
What's there to do?
- Whitewater sports
- Fishing. A variety of fish can be found. A valid fishing license is required.
- Hiking. Hiking trail over 2,000 miles long. Offers breathtaking view of the magnificent Cumberland Valley to the west and the renowned Middletown Valley to the east.
- Museums. Explore Jefferson Museum and discover artifacts from John Brown's raid!
- Charles Town Races offers horse racing for the equine enthusiasts.
- Mountain Trail Horseback Ride.
- Crystal Grottoes Cavern. The only show cave in Maryland, these caves were discovered in 1920. The largest room is the Blanket Room, and another notable area is the Golden Lake.
- Antietam National Battlefield Hike. Explore the final hours of the Battle of Antietam by walking the Final Attack Trail.
