Time for another exciting dinner of this year. Michael and Raj are hosting "The Uber Dinner" for 2008... heh just kidding. Friends, lets come together and have a blast of a time at the Oktoberfest dinner, drink a lot of beer and eat great food. Traditionally people only eat select variety of food such as Hendl (chicken), Schweinsbraten (roast pork), Haxn (knuckle of pork), Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Würstel (sausages) along with Brezel (Pretzel)), Knödeln (potato or bread dumplings), Käsespätzle (cheese noodles), Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes), Sauerkraut or Blaukraut (red cabbage) along with such Bavarian delicacies as Obatzda (a fatty, spiced cheese-butter concoction) and Weisswurst (a white sausage) and so on and so forth. The list looks impossibly delicious, but don't worry you don't have to bring those delicacies. According to Mike and Raj, "Anything and Everything is welcome". I encourage everyone of you to sign up for this dinner (as soon as possible till the RSVPs are available) and for a change, I have removed the "Maybes" just for experimental purposes. About Our Hosts Raj: He has an Undergraduate Degree in Electrical Engineering & Master's in Engineering Management, currently working as a Project Manager in Construction Business, recent transplant to Minneapolis from windy city (Chicago). He Loves doing volunteer activities whether be it Special Olympics, Junior Achievement program or "Feed my starving children". "Healthy" food is all the rage these days. But seriously, since when does that mean it can't be just as tantalizing? Our gracious host, Jeremy, will be featuring tarragon, garlic and brandy braised chicken, served on bread with smoked swiss. Or, you might be delighted with his fire-roasted tomato deep dish pizza. (You'll have to come to find out which!) Either way, this dinner will prove once and for all that tasty and healthy are not mutually exclusive. Not to mention it's a great opportunity to get new ideas and inspiration for what to make at home. Please bring a tasty but healthy dish to pass. (Check out our food ideas page.) We also welcome your recipes to share with the group. For the directionally-challe nged: If you use google maps, plug in Jeremy's address and turn on the satellite view. You will see that there are two buildings, each of which is shaped like a horseshoe. He's in the second building. The main entrance is in the center of the horseshoe. About Your Host: Jeremy Jeremy grew up in North Dakota, about 20 miles south of Canada, and 100 miles from geographical center of North America (and lowest population of surfers : ). It was a place where you could see the curvature of the Earth from your driveway and the Milky Way at night. He came to Minneapolis for the U of M, loved the city, and decided to stay. The Twin Cities are one of the 4 places Jeremy would consider living (try to guess the other 3 and you might win something at his dinner). Professionally, Jeremy is an engineer. He started a small company, Green Spring Design, that makes interactive websites for ad agencies and small businesses. He likes traveling, and he started playing the electric guitar this year.

The Saturday Night Dinners are going Italian! Join your friends and fellow young professionals for a night full of pastas, bruschettas, olives, risottos, wines, caprese or any other Italian delight you can conjure up--all plus John's homemade lasagna. If we're lucky, John might even break out the sambuca! Bring an Italian dish of your choice (appetizer, salad, main dish, or dessert) and/or your favorite Italian wine or beer, such as Peroni or Moretti. Party officially ends by 11pm but John lives in Uptown so the party will continue at a local spot for anyone who's up for it! See you all there! About John John was born and raised in New York and moved to Minnesota just last year. In his job as an accountant, John helps to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of Thomson Financial results monthly as well as helping out with the successful completion of the quarterly and annual audits. But don't be fooled--an accountant or not, John knows how to have a good time and really enjoys going out and meeting new people. A gregarious guy who's tons of fun to be with, John likes to stay active by running, playing sports, playing poker, and checking out the local hot spots.
