Details

This will be the first meeting of the group. I chose the museum because it gives us the chance to get to know each other in a relaxed and mobile environment. All around us are the exhibits - some new, some decidedly dusty - but all are natural topics of conversation. Moving through the museum gives us a natural way of mingling and meeting different potential friends. We can sit down in small groups in the cafe for a cuppa, and if the weather is good, go for a stroll in the park and the woods.

It's easy to get there - the 44 tram from Montgomery goes to within a couple of hundred metres.

Note: Meeting rescheduled to the Sunday to avoid a clash with another Brussels meetup on Saturday.

OK, thanks for those useful comments, Pascal. Given what you and Carina have said about moving the meetup to Sunday, I will reschedule it and hope that those who said they would come on Saturday can still come to a Sunday afternoon meet.

[see before] A thing is sure, even if there is perhaps no need to multiply the Meetup websites for Brussels, there are not too many activities and even not too many organizers and I should say not too many members! There is a real need in our society for people who like a little bit more transcendence to meet other people like them and there is never too much good will to achieve this. Now you have created a new Meetup website, why not to continue? [to be continued]

[see before] For the question to know wheter there is any need for Brussels Rustles, we may say that we could merge, in theory, all the Meetups of Brussels in one with several organizers and propose a lot of activities. But will they agree with each other? It could be, of course interesting to organize a meeting with most the organizers to make a brainstorming :-) [to be continued]

Hello Martin, I don't feel it is a clash ;-) , but it is "very very difficult" to go to two locations at the same time :-) , so if it is possible not to have to choose...! I wrote to Carina and Maria Elena and they think it is a good idea to do it on Sunday. For Carina, like for probably lots of people, it is even easier to do something in the afternoon on Sunday than on Saturday, because the Saturday is often a day to do the things we had not time to do during the week. Pascal, thanks for this. I thought I'd found all the friendship groups in and around Brussels, but I managed to miss "New in Town". And the clash couldn't be much worse, could it? I wouldn't mind moving it to the Sunday if the people who would like to come can switch dates. But the bigger question is whether there is any need for Brussles Rustles given that New in Town is already up and running. Is the objective of both groups the same, and are they both serving the same people?

Hello Martin, Do you know that the same day (Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2:00PM), there is an other Meetup wich has a big popularity? You may have a look at http://newintown.meetup.com... So, perhaps, to have more people attending to your meeting, it would be a better idea to change the date of your meeting! For example, because it is in the afternoon, it could be a Sunday, the Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 2:00PM. What do you think about this? And you Maria Elena and Carina, what do you think?
